Metropolis Resort is currently accepting applications for our Parks Operations & Leadership Intern position! This internship is designed to give future leaders a hands-on introduction to the operations of Action City and Chaos Waterpark, while learning what it takes to successfully operate a busy family entertainment and waterpark environment.

As a Parks Operations & Leadership Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a variety of positions throughout Action City and Chaos Waterpark. You’ll experience how each park operates, learn how different positions work together, and gain a better understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities that go into creating a safe, fun, and successful park.

Throughout the internship, you’ll also meet one-on-one with the Action City General Manager and Director of Waterpark Operations to discuss your experiences, ask questions, and learn more about leadership, park operations, and future career opportunities.

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in management, leadership, aquatics, waterparks, family entertainment centers, recreation, or hospitality to gain real-world experience and explore a future leadership career at Metropolis Resort.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in a resort orientation and tour to learn about Metropolis Resort, our culture, guest service standards, safety expectations, and operations.

  • Work in a variety of positions throughout Action City and Chaos Waterpark to gain hands-on experience.

  • Learn how each park operates and what makes the day-to-day operations of each park unique.

  • Experience different guest-facing and operational positions to better understand the responsibilities of the team members you may one day lead.

  • Learn how departments communicate and work together to keep each park running smoothly.

  • Gain an understanding of park safety, cleanliness, staffing, procedures, and guest service standards.

  • Observe how managers and leaders make decisions, solve problems, communicate with teams, and handle challenges.

  • Meet regularly with the Action City General Manager and Director of Waterpark Operations to discuss your experiences and development.

  • Learn about management expectations, leadership skills, and career opportunities within the parks.

  • Participate in our leadership development course, Leadership Lab.

  • Complete a final reflection and share key takeaways from your internship experience.

Park Exposure May Include:

  • Action City: Attractions, AC Front Desk, Party Host, Dairy Queen, and Go-Karts.

  • Chaos Waterpark: Lifeguarding (if Red Cross certified), Waterpark Front Desk, Splash Bar, Party Host, and Waterpark Utility.

  • Activities: Splasharoo and other resort activities to learn how our activities are operated and managed.

  • Park Operations: Opening and closing procedures, cleanliness, safety, staffing, and daily procedures.

  • Team Operations: Communication, teamwork, training, and understanding the responsibilities of different park positions.

  • Leadership Exposure: One-on-one conversations with park leadership about decision-making, coaching, accountability, and career development.

Final Internship Assignment:

Throughout the internship, you’ll be encouraged to look at our parks through the eyes of a future leader.

As a final project, you’ll identify one area of operations in Action City, Chaos Waterpark, or both that you believe could be improved. You’ll spend time observing the current process, asking questions, and developing a practical recommendation for improvement.

At the end of the internship, you’ll present your idea and recommendations to the Action City General Manager and Director of Waterpark Operations.

The goal is not necessarily to find something that is “wrong,” but to learn how great leaders look for opportunities, ask questions, solve problems, and continually improve operations.

What We're Looking For:

  • Eager to learn and interested in pursuing a future management or leadership role.

  • Willing to work in a variety of positions and departments.

  • Curious about how businesses, teams, and parks operate.

  • Dependable, professional, and willing to jump in wherever needed.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to maintain a positive attitude during busy or challenging shifts.

  • Comfortable asking questions and learning from different leaders.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Interested in understanding both the team member and leadership perspective.

  • Passionate about creating a safe, fun, and memorable experience for our guests.

  • Willing to receive feedback and continue developing as a leader.

  • If you are currently a Waterpark Manager or Action City Supervisor, please apply! Your internship experience can be customized around your current role and development goals.

This internship is designed to provide real-world parks and operations experience, not management responsibilities. Interns will learn by working alongside our teams, experiencing different positions, meeting with park leaders, and seeing firsthand what it takes to successfully operate Action City and Chaos Waterpark.

By the end of the internship, you’ll have a better understanding of the people, operations, challenges, and leadership skills that go into running our parks and what it takes to become a successful leader within them.

If you're ready to learn, work hard, experience both of our parks, and take the next step in your leadership journey, apply today and become part of the Metropolis experience!
