Fun Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids

While the turkey is in the oven and the pies are baking, keep your little ones entertained with these simple & festive Thanksgiving crafts! They’re easy to make, great for all ages, and perfect for adding a little handmade charm to your holiday celebration.

1. Handprint Turkeys

All you need for this classic creation is construction paper, markers, and a trace of your child's hand. Each finger becomes a feather, and your little one can decorate it however they’d like. Add googly eyes, glitter, or write one thing they’re thankful for on each feather. You can also use paint for the handprint, or start with a simple turkey body and cut out multiple handprints to use as feathers. Get creative!

2. Leaf Garland of Gratitude

Head outside and collect colorful fall leaves, or cut paper leaves from cardstock. On each leaf, have your kids write something or someone they’re thankful for. String them together with twine to create a festive garland to hang up!

3. Juice Box Turkeys

Turn your kids’ favorite juice boxes into adorable table decorations! Wrap each box in brown paper, then glue on paper feathers, googly eyes, and a beak. These cute little turkeys can double as place cards or snacks for your Thanksgiving kids’ table.

4. Pumpkin Pie Paper Plates

Use paper plates, orange paint, and cotton balls to make a slice of pumpkin pie that looks (almost) good enough to eat! Cut a triangle “slice” from the plate, paint it orange, and glue a cotton ball “whipped cream” dollop on top.

5. Thankful Tree

Grab some branches from outside and place them in a vase or jar. Cut small paper leaves and have your kids write something they’re thankful for before tying them to the branches. As the holiday approaches, watch your “Thankful Tree” fill up with love and gratitude.

6. Turkey Masks

Using paper plates, construction paper feathers, and some elastic string, create your very own turkey masks for kids to wear during dinner or playtime!

7. Corn Cob Painting

Paint some dried corn cobs, then roll them across paper for a cool, textured pattern that looks just like corn kernels. This craft is as fun as it is messy...so set this one up outside or plan accordingly with newspapers or towels!
